Florida spring
Williford Spring
Photo by: Florida SpringsWilliford Spring is known for its crystal-clear, 72-degree water and a flow of about 16 million gallons per day. Nestled along Econfina Creek, its 57-foot-wide basin—up to 12 feet deep—offers a scenic spot for swimming, snorkeling, and diving, with two explorable caves, surrounded by hardwood forests. Accessible via Porter Pond Road off SR 20 (no boat needed), it features boardwalks and picnic pavilions. Summer weekends draw crowds—arrive by 8 AM. For quiet, visit weekdays in spring (April-May) or fall (September-October), mornings ideal. Gear rental, shuttles, and tours are available in the nearby area. Boats on the creek are limited to 9.9 hp. No vessels in the spring area. If you paddle up there is a dock at the mouth of the run. Water clarity is typically vivid but can cloud with Econfina Creek backflow after rain. Low water levels around 6-7 feet ensure clarity, clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods.
