Treehouse Spring is known for its clear, 72-degree water and a variable flow, once over 100 million gallons per day. Part of the Hornsby Spring system along the Santa Fe River, its 125-foot-wide basin—up to 31 feet deep—offers a local spot for swimming and kayaking, surrounded by pines and hardwoods. Accessible only by boat from a public ramp off US 441/41 (0.6 miles upstream), it’s on private land, so respect boundaries. Summer weekends draw locals—arrive early for calm. For quiet, visit weekdays in spring (April-May) or fall (September-October), mornings ideal. Water clarity is typically vivid but can turn tannic with Santa Fe River backflow after rain. Check —stable, low levels, below 2 feet, to ensure clarity. The spring is clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods.
