Telford Spring is known for its clear, 72-degree water and a flow of about 20-30 million gallons per day. Set along the Suwannee River, its large basin—up to 50 feet deep with a cave system—offers a vibrant spot for swimming, snorkeling, and cave diving, surrounded by hardwoods and eroded banks. Accessible via SR 51 to a dirt road (no boat needed, free entry), it’s a 5-minute walk from parking. Summer weekends draw crowds—arrive by 8 AM. For quiet, visit weekdays in spring (April-May) or fall (September-October), mornings ideal. Pretty neat horizonal cave or tunnel you can swim through. Water clarity is typically vivid but can cloud with Suwannee River backflow after rain. Check —stable, low levels around 6-7 feet to ensure clarity. Clarity will improve with lower water levels. Clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods.
