Lafayette Blue Spring
Magnitude 1SuwanneeMayoPublic
Photo by: Florida SpringsLocated within Lafayette Blue Springs State Park, the spring discharges crystal-clear groundwater through a natural limestone bridge into a deep blue pool (~5 ft shallow vent with a deeper ~50 ft cave drop on the first pool, plus a second smaller spring run flowing directly into the Suwannee River). The spring is highly scenic, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, fishing, and horseback riding amid towering hardwoods, and is part of the Green Sink Cave system with over 12,000 ft of mapped underwater passages. Water heights at or below 6-7 ft offer the best clarity and visibility for paddling and swimming.
