Set along Holmes Creek, its guitar-shaped pool—35-50 feet across, up to 8 feet deep at sand boils—offers a serene spot for swimming and wading, surrounded by floodplain forest. Accessible via Hightower Rd off SR 77 to Hightower Springs Landing (no boat needed, free entry). Summer weekends draw locals—arrive by 8 AM. For quiet, visit weekdays in spring (April-May) or fall (September-October), mornings ideal. Jet Skis are prohibited on Holmes Creek in Washington County. Ord 97-12 Accessibility for those with a disability to access to the spring is limited but the short boardwalk appears sufficient for safe use. Water clarity is typically vivid at the boils but clouds with Holmes Creek runoff after rain or at higher creek levels like 13 feet, where visibility drops to 3-5 feet. Check - stable, low levels of less than 12 feet for a better chance of great clarity, clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods. There's normally a single portable restroom. During a December 2025 visit we noted the ladder rungs on the tree in the main image had been removed.
