Florida spring
Fern Hammock Springs
Photo by: Nomadic_FloridianLocated in the Juniper Springs Recreation Area within Ocala National Forest near Sellers Lake. The spring flows from a large, shallow, irregularly shaped pool approximately 160 by 75 feet, with more than 25 visible sand boils—one of the most active beneath the wooden footbridge that spans the pool. The clear, bluish water supports diverse aquatic vegetation and wildlife. Swimming is prohibited to protect the fragile ecosystem, but visitors can view the spring from a short boardwalk trail that leads from the main recreation area. Swimming is available in nearby at the Juniper Springs Recreation Swimming Area. ADA accessible in the park but not necessarily this spring. Paths aren’t in the best shape. Alcohol and pets may be permitted in the camping area but they are not allowed in the day use areas.
