Mcrae Spring 4

A spring complex located on the floodplain of the Chipola River on the west bank, approximately 1.75 miles north of the Hollis Creek boat ramp. The site includes multiple vents (McRae Spring #1-#5) that discharge into a run which enters a swallet and ultimately resurges into the Chipola River. One of the resurgence areas is located about 350 feet from the river where groundwater emerges diffusely through the limestone bank—this is essentially the “McRae Spring Resurgence.” The terrain is steep-bluff and forested, with no developed swim area and mostly on private property, so access is limited and best via paddle craft. The location appears to be on private property. Access may be available by water via Mill Creek. Verify access or gain permission before visiting. Look for water heights below 77 feet for potential clarity.
