Palm Springs

The spring discharges cool groundwater from the Floridan aquifer through multiple vents or sand boils — up to 7 distinct points feeding a narrow spring run with a sandy bottom and patches of algae. Historically, the spring was dammed to form a small lake, but the dam was removed in the early 2000s, restoring the natural ground and vegetation around the vents. Water quality is clear, with characteristic sulfur-reducing bacteria and a mild hydrogen sulfide odor sometimes present. Public access is available via Seminole State Forest trailheads with a State Forest Use Permit required for drive-in access, and the spring’s run flows into Blackwater Creek.
