Seven Sisters Spring

Part of the Suwannee River Headwaters, and in the Suwannee River State Park, featuring a cluster of five 20-foot-deep limestone conduits known regionally as a karst window into the underlying aquifer. There is no swimming allowed. The park focuses on canoeing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and paddling, but does not include in-water recreation at that spring location. This spring will only clear significantly if the local river and watershed flush out tannic water—typically after extended dry periods, when the gauge shows extended low-flow conditions. Most of the year, the water remains tannic, even at the spring vents, because the river system is predominately blackwater.
