Wekiwa Spring
Photo by: Florida SpringsReservations required. They can be made up to 60 days in advance. Same day reservations are permitted until capacity is reached. Located in Wekiwa Springs State Park, this is a striking spring famed for its crystal-clear, 72-degree water and a flow of about 42 million gallons per day. Encircled by hardwood hammocks and pines, its basin—up to 25 feet deep—feeds the river, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Accessible via the park entrance off Wekiwa Springs Road (no boat needed), it’s a short walk from parking. Summer weekends and holidays like Memorial Day pack the park. For calm, try weekdays in spring (March-April) or fall (October-November), mornings best. In our most recent visit the park ranger noted that they are now asking everyone including season pass holders to make reservations. Pets are not permitted in the swimming area. Showers are available to campers at the campsites. Water clarity is typically superb but may haze after rain. Stable levels around 2-3 feet usually ensure clarity.
