Given the differences in access, rules and amenities between the park and campground, it isn’t possible to capture them with our pilll selection below. For example, tubes are not available for rental at the spring but they are right outside the gate. Then, tubes are not permitted at the campground kayak launch. Rock Springs is known for its crystal-clear, 72-degree water and a flow of about 26 million gallons per day. Set within Kelly Park, its narrow basin-up to 8 feet deep-feeds Rock Springs Run, offering a stunning spot for tubing, swimming, and kayaking, surrounded by oaks and palms. Accessible via CR 435 (no boat needed, entry fee), it's a short walk from parking. Summer weekends pack the park-arrive EARLY. We arrived at 5:46 AM on a Saturday morning and was the 118th car in line. A police officer did come by and pass out tickets around 6:15 so that those who made the cut could leave and return. This also seems to be a measure to prevent line jumping. We highly recommend water shoes for this one. You’ll thank us. Bring your own tubes. If you forget there is a tube rental place outside the park. Tubes are not available inside the park. Floats can be no bigger than 5’ x 5’. For quiet, visit weekdays in spring (April-May) or fall (September-October), mornings ideal. Camp Joy planning is a bit different than the spring area. No swimming, alcohol or pets at the kayak launch. Vessels must be carried to the launch area as there is no waterfront vehicle access. inflatable crafts must be approved by staff. Tubes and similar inflatables are not allowed at the launch point (tubing is permitted in the park at the spring run). While they do not rent vessels, they do offer a shuttle service. Reservations are required for the Camp Joy campground but not for the park/springs. DON'T MISS visiting Kings Landing while you are in the area! Water clarity is typically vivid but can cloud with Rock Springs Run runoff after rain. Stable, low levels around 2-3 feet ensure clarity, clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods.
