Located within the Blue Springs Recreation Area at the northeast end of Merritt’s Mill Pond. Known for its clear, bluish water and extensive underwater cave system, it’s a popular spot for swimming, diving, and picnicking, featuring diving boards, slides, a bathhouse, and picnic pavilions. Access is via the recreation area off State Road 164, with an entry fee per vehicle (up to 8 people) or per pedestrian. The spring pool is surrounded by grassy uplands and a cypress-gum forest, with water clarity varying by season. Best visited in dry seasons (late fall to early spring) when runoff is minimal. A boardwalk now provides direct land access to Shangri-La Spring. The park no longer allows use of personal speakers. Clarity is likely when the water height is below 77 feet with optimal conditions as the level approaches 76 feet.
