This is a striking spring famed for its crystal-clear, 72-degree water and its role in the system’s 40 million gallons daily output. This narrow, 20-foot-deep fissure opens into one of the world’s most renowned cave diving systems, with over 30,000 feet of mapped passages connecting to Devil’s Eye. Flanked by cypress trees along its 300-foot run to the Santa Fe River, it’s a hotspot for advanced divers and snorkelers, reached via the same boardwalk as Devil’s Eye. Summer weekends and holidays see heavy diver traffic—arrive at dawn to dive in peace. For a quieter experience, opt for weekdays in early spring (March-April) or late fall (October-November), when the water glows undisturbed. Alcohol only at campsites. Some areas may not be accessible to visitors with disabilities. Give them a call before you visit for the lastest accommodations. Water clarity is exceptional but shifts with Santa Fe River backflow during wet seasons. Clear conditions are best with low, stable river levels below 22 feet.
