Florida spring
Buford Spring
Photo by: Florida SpringsA striking and remote spring located within the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. The spring sits deep in the forest and is reached by hiking through swampy terrain, with a boardwalk providing the final approach. It’s a popular dive site known for its deep vertical shaft and crystal-clear water, but due to its isolation and wildlife presence, it’s not well suited for casual swimming or large groups. Expect a long walk to reach the spring. We recommend downloading both the trail and recreation guide. Both Buford and nearby Eagles Nest are noted as dangerous diving locations by FWC. Check out NJoy Spirits Distillery while in the area. Restrooms are available in the area but but not immediately at the spring. Water height doesn't have a significant impact on this spring but look for low stable water levels.
