Wrights Blue Spring

Roughly 0.6 miles upstream of its junction with the Choctawhatchee River in Holmes County. It discharges into a shallow ~200 ft-wide pool with depths up to 15 ft, nestled in a cypress‑tupelo floodplain. The spring is usually clear under low creek flow, but becomes muddy during higher waters. There is no USGS real‑time gauge near the site—clarity must be inferred from regional river-level trends in the Choctawhatchee system. When the gauge shows gage heights ≤ 6 ft—meaning minimal runoff and baseflow-dominant conditions—the spring is most likely to be clear. Clarity diminishes during higher stage events when tannic creek flows dominate.
